Huh... Slightly addled, but on the whole I like this post. You've got some fresh ideas. But please, write more lucid.

I firmly believe that you can´t separate your image and your values and beliefs.

I am promoting Personal Branding in Spain and Europe and probably we have a too pragmatic view of life. It makes me a little bit difficult to introduce this concept here

Good points Dustin. The power to persuade comes from authenticity and confidence. That can only come from knowing ones own unique style and strengths, building off that as a foundation for a personal brand.

Adaptation of that foundation to what the market wants will work. But if your target audience is looking for a particular style, and yours is no where in that vicinity, that's a vain struggle destined for failure.

If a person's brand is a facade and not rooted in their unique style and strengths, there is no authenticity. Self confidence suffers since with the internal disconnect. The person (trying to brand themselves) feels like a fake, and no matter how hard they try to cover it up -- people in their target audience sense the lack of authenticity and confidence at a subconscious level.

I totally agree. Branding is all about authenticity. Volvo couldn't communicate safety is their cars exploded every time they were in an accident. The same is true for personal branding. Your personal brand is based in what is real, true and genuine. Anne Morrow Lindbergh once said "the most exhausting thing you can be is inauthentic." Great advice when you are building your personal brand. Personal branding is permission to be yourself.
