Paul,

The creativity is still there man. Nurse it back to vitality and see where it takes you! We're all waiting for what you'll create.

Thanks Chris. I agree that the sources of inspiration often surprise us. This is a great argument for keeping our eyes (as well as minds and hearts) open for opportunities to invite inspiration into our lives.

Despite my choice of wording, this decade of my life is not possessive. Thanks for the edit. It has been corrected.

Dear Dustin... this is a question near my heart, always. I find inspiration, but I am often shocked at its source. For instance, I went out for an afternoon to shoot photos with my new camera. I became bored with the usual subjects of flowers, rusted signs and sunsets, and decided to aim my camera down at the ground... straight down. What resulted was a collection of some of the finest images I have ever taken. Otherworldly views of yellow road bumps and gum on the sidewalk. I think that creativity is still looking outside the box, but as adults, our boxes are so much bigger, that we have to go the added distance to get to its edge.

I love your idea that every designer should use a copywriter. I am a graphic designer, so I humbly offer one correction: "Years later, well into my 30s...' without the possessive apostrophe.

I really enjoy your blog and its format!

Very good. I miss the creativity I had as a child too. Wonder where it went? Swallowed up in the day to day hustle? Burned away in high school when I figured out that being a creative science nerd wasn't cool in my school full of jocks, so I joined their ranks? Sort of? When I got a car and discovered that girls were great? Well, I actually always knew that. But I do miss the days of grade school building an electronic device from a kit, taking apart and reassembling a clock, building some device in my dad's shop that I had some esoteric purpose for, and reading all those great books from the Guymon Public Library. Man, those were the days.

I would prefer a larger area rather than smaller, and somewhere where there is a bit of shelter incase it rains or something like that. I don't really want to hire an outdoor function room unless it is relatively reasonably priced. It would be best on the north/west side of Brisbane but areas closer to southbank or the CBD are acceptable (ie kangaroo point, new farm etc). Thanks for any ideas!.
