A quick addition to yesterday’s post about trust supporting creativity.
I missed the obvious connection between trust and trusses. A truss uses beams assembled to create a strong structure. Commonly, a truss creates a triangle (or series of triangles). If you think of each of those beams as the transfer of trust from one individual to another, you can see how a lattice of trust can create a strong culture where creativity, collaboration and innovation are supported.
Once you understand what a truss looks like, you start to see them everywhere.
Once you understand the value of trust, you start to see it in the “structure” of great companies, non-profits and movements.
You can focus on the results you want (creativity, productivity, innovation, profit, market share, customers, converts, votes, etc.). But a great place to start is building trust.
One beam at a time.
