Unless you’re in an efficiency apartment, you don’t try and do everything in one space at home.
- There’s a place for eating.
- There’s a place for entertainment.
- There’s a space for sleeping.
Workplaces need the same variety.
- A space for focus work (could be a private office or a small huddle room)
- A space for collaborative work (could be a conference room, but long tables aren’t ideal)
- A space for socializing (could be a work cafe or a break area)
Too many offices give their employees the equivalent of an efficiency apartment or a jail cell. If that’s the case, eventually they’ll start looking for a way to breakout.
